We are standing at the edge of the end of times. The catastrophy is imminent. La peur est partout. Fear (Angst) is Everywhere.
The Dead Brothers hid in the Vosges mountains (Saintes Marie aux Mines) to take the puls of our time. They tuned into Serge Gainsbourg's Papillons Noirs with Rodolphe Burger and echoed traditional swiss yodels from the middle ages. With texts penned by the late Robert Walser and underground cineaste Marcus Aurelius Littler they tell in ANGST, 13 stories of joy and misery and about the difficulty of being human in these troubled times. Hundreds of notes by violins and tubas, banjos and wurlitzers, Cisters from Emmental and swiss bagpipes, a positif from the the vosgian mountains, acid guitars doing calypso and Voodoo choirs chanting along mould together in this new masterpiece by the legendary Dead Brothers. Who would of thought that the puzzle of european folklores that the Dead Brothers have put back together would draw the more sombre route that rock'n'roll took hidden in the alps. Mixed by engineer Excellence Bertrand Siffert (The Young Gods, Yello) it's the Dead Brothers 7th album for the bernese label Voodoo rhythm.

The Dead Brother's roots fetch far in musical history. They started digging their graves in 1998. Punk rock and country blues are part of their DNA. So are the stage antics of Cab Calloway, Kurt Weill's Three penny opera and the european folklore instrumental excellency. 7 Full lenght Albums where Released on Voodoo Rhythm Records ,and countless Coopertaions with TV And Movie (BBC Documentry (The Genious of Madame Curie - 2013) and theatre (Theater Basel: 3 Penny Opera) etc. Alain Croubalian the Head of the Dead Surrounded many influential musicians around him from the Swiss Underground and Folkloristic Music Scene for ages (Landstrichmusig, Patent Ochsner, Echo, d'Giigemaa), others have a foot in theater, comedy, cinema and Vaudeville (Stadt Theater Hannover, les Trois Suisses, 9 Volt Nelly) some are orchestra directors and some italo crooners,
Alain Croubalian Started his Music Career in the early 80’s with the band Les Maniacs (Stop itBaby records) in 1998 the had enough from electric music and formed the Dead Brothers the one and only Funeral Real Heavy Metal band (they had um to 5 Tubas in the band) .. and all acoustic instruments they Created the weirdest mix of Folklore and Modern Music ever came out of Switzerland

The Dead Brothers se sont retirés dans les contreforts des Vosges pour pondre un album qui prend le pouls de notre temps. Dans la retraite de Rodolphe Burger, à Saintes Marie aux Mines, ils ont enregistré un chef d'œuvre qui rassemble les Papillons noirs de Gainsbourg, (avec Rodolphe Burger dans le rôle de Serge) et des yodels primitifs qui résonnent depuis le moyen âge dans les Alpes suisses. Des textes de Robert Walser et du cinéaste underground Marc Aurelius Littler côtoient les cistres d'Emmental, le positif vosgien et une grosse caisse américaine d'enfer. L'album ANGST rassemble 13 histoires de misère et de joie extatique qui prouvent la difficulté qu'il y a à être humain en ces temps troublé. Des centaines de notes violons et de tubas, de banjos et de wurlitzer, de guitares acides et de chœurs vaudous. Qui aurait pensé que les bribes du folklore européen, réarrangé live par cet orchestre mort, dessinerait la silhouette de ce qu'aurait dû être le rock'n'roll, qui aurait pris une route plus

Les racines des Dead Brothers sont ancrées très loin dans l'Histoire musicale. Ils creusent leur tombe depuis 20 ans. Le Punk, le rock, le blues, le gospel et la country font partie de leur ADN. Comme l'attitude scénique de Cab Calloway, l'Opéra de quat'sous de Kurt Weill et l'excellence instrumentale du folklore européen. Certains membres rénovent la scène folklorique suisse depuis des plombes (Landstrichmusig, Echo, d'Giigemaa, Patent Ochsner) d'autres ont un pied dans le Vaudeville, le cabaret, le théâtre et le cinéma (Stadt Theater Hannover/Hamburg, les Trois Suisses, 9 Volt Nelly, M.A. Littler), certains dirigent des orchestres et certains sont des crooners italiens; et avant tout cela Dead Alain jouait de la basse punk'n'roll pendant 17 ans avec les Maniacs: tous trouvent un foyer pour leur Saudade dans la musique des Dead Brothers. Ils ont ouvert cette boîte de Pandore de blues mondial il y a 20 ans déjà: aujourd'hui leur son est partout: dans les publicités pour les voitures, dans chaque série télévisée.
