Timothy Jaromir has traveled far – both physically and musically. The places and people he encountered along the way are reflected in his songs. As soon as the Zurich musician picks up a guitar and his expressive voice fills the room, one feels transported to another place. Sometimes his musical recipe includes a pinch of folk, sometimes a bit of blues or indie-pop. However, his new introspective EP "Man Atlas" marks a return to his singer-songwriter roots – and to himself.
Timothy’s journey began with the release of his first album "Salton Sea" in 2010. Since then, his work has taken him to the stages of the Montreux Jazz Festival and into the airplay charts in Switzerland and Germany. With each of his subsequent albums, especially "Hiraeth" (2020), an album that addresses his father's escape from Czechoslovakia in 1968, he deepened his exploration of themes like home and identity. His own cultural background is richly diverse: with an English mother and a Canadian partner, Jaromir's life itself embodies a fascinating mix of different worlds.
Alongside his solo career, Timothy forms the Americana-folk duo Goldschatz with his partner Rykka, which has existed since 2018. Together, they also run their music label Vissen Records, under which they promote their projects and those of other artists. This partnership not only broadens their musical horizons but also strengthens their personal and professional bond.
In his latest release, Timothy Jaromir returns to his musical roots by focusing solely on guitar and vocals. The EP "Man Atlas" is an homage to the simplicity and power of acoustic indie-folk music. Working with producer Giuliano Sulzberger, he used a virtually archaic traditional recording process. The vocal recordings are not pieced together from many separate takes, but each song is sung from start to finish in one go. Moreover, they are mostly accompanied live by his guitar to achieve maximum authenticity. “We wanted to bring the realness of my music as much to the forefront as possible”.
Through this reduction to the essentials, Jaromir finds an unfiltered mode of expression on "Man Atlas," speaking directly from the heart and deeply touching his listeners.
